Roofing Solutions

Pro Roof Steel Merchants has grown to become one of the largest manufacturers of roofing solutions in South Africa. The three most common and popular roofing profiles (Corrugated, IBR, Widespan) used in the roofing industry worldwide, are manufactured in-house at our various service and steel processing centers in South Africa. We can supply all these profiles in both, galvanised and colour coated (painted) finish.

Our service and steel processing centers also offer several value added services and manufactures various roofing accessories commonly used in conjunction with the three most widely used profiles.

The Corrugated Profile (S-Rib)
is the oldest and most widely used profile for roofing and cladding applications. This is mostly due to its ease of handling and fixing, relative strength, cost effectiveness and its successful use in the designs mostly depicting the old Victorian style. Corrugated sheeting can successfully be factory cranked, curved and bullnosed to a wide range of radii to suit customer specifications.

The corrugated profile is manufactured in two sizes, namely the 8.5 and the 10.5 corrugations. Both these sizes can currently be manufactured in various thicknesses (gauges) from input material ranging from 0.27mm to 0.8mm. The effective cover of the 8.5 sheet is 610mm and that of the 10.5 sheet is 762mm.

The IBR Profile (Inverted Box Rib)
is one of the most popular profiles used for roofing and side cladding applications in the industrial, commercial and residential building industry. The bold angular appearance of this particular profile makes it a very attractive choice for industrial and domestic solutions. Its many advantageous characteristics such as its strength to weight ratio, that provide optimum load span consistency, and the broad flutes that ensures excellent drainage, makes this a popular choice for roofing contractors.
The IBR profile has an effective cover of 686mm and is manufactured in thicknesses (gauges) from input material ranging from 0.27mm to 0.8mm. This profile can also be successfully factory cranked, curved and bullnosed to suit customers specifications.

The Widespan Profile M
is a roofing and cladding profile that was designed to provide the building and construction industry with an economical alternative to the IBR profile, without sacrificing the popular fluted concept so frequently used in modern
architecture. The Widespan profile offers greater spans and lower slopes than the traditional corrugated profile, while providing the same cover width as the 10.5 corrugation sheet.
The Widespan profile therefore has an effective cover of 762mm and is manufactured in thicknesses (gauges) from input material, ranging from 0.27mm to 0.8mm. This profile can also be successfully factory cranked, curved and bullnosed to customer specifications.

Value Added Services
Value adding can be applied to all three profiles discussed above, and mainly consist out of bullnosing (forward and reverse), curving and cranking. Material ranging from 0.30mm to 0.80mm thickness (gauge) can be subjected to the value added services supplied by our group of companies.
Bullnosing and Cranking of corrugated, IBR and Widespan profiles incorporates lateral indentations pressed into the sheet at a uniform distance of 25mm. Bullnoses and cranks can either be at the end of a sheet or at any position along the length of the sheet. Bullnosing and center cranks can be manufactured in a radii, ranging from 350mm to 600mm, any larger radii will be considered as a curve. The maximum sheet length that can be bullnosed is 15m.
Curving is done by using the same process as required by bullnosing, but an increased distance between indentations is achieved by the manual handling of the profiled sheet which results in the larger radius achieved.

Roofing Accessories
Pro Roof Steel Merchants also manufactures and supplies a range of roofing accessories that compliments the three commonly used roofing profiles.
The most common accessories we manufacture for corrugated sheeting is roll top ridging. For IBR and Widespan sheeting we manufacture and supply closure and ridging according to customer requirements and specifications. It must be stressed that all the accessories can be supplied in galvanised and in a painted finish.

Pro Lok
Pro lok (Broad shoulder concealed fix clipping) – This is a non-pierced roofing product, that can be manufactured in galvanized and colour coated materials in a thickness range 0.47mm-0.80mm.
Product advantages – The product can be used in applications where the roof slope is smaller than 5 degrees.Pro lok can be manufactured in longer lengths that can be transported because of onsite rollingA leak free roof is guaranteed because of no piercing of the roof sheet.Expansion on long length sheets are accommodated with the clipping system. The 700mm covering width allows faster erection on buildings.
Bullnosing and curving – Pro lok can be factory or on site bullnosed or curved to specification
